Derek joined FTVentures in August 2004 and leads the firm's business development team, including oversight of FTVResources. He has been actively involved in the private equity sector as an investor and an advisor for over 20 years. Prior to FTVentures, Derek was a founder of Thomas Weisel Partners, Director of Private Equity and a member of the firm's five person Executive Committee. Previously, Derek spent 10 years with Montgomery Securities as a Partner and Director of Private Equity. Derek received a BA from Pomona College, a JD from Northwestern University School of Law and completed the Executive Program at Stanford University.

Derek serves on the board of Acusphere, Inc. (NASDAQ:ACUS).
